Enjoy Mother Nature this Mother's Day

Are you struggling this Mother’s Day?

If you’re in the UK today is Mother’s Day.  This focus on motherhood can raise many emotions if you do not have children.

Difficulties of Mother’s Day for those without children

If you are childless and not by choice Mother’s Day can bring into sharp contrast the difference between your life and those around you who are mums whether that’s family, friends, or the voices we hear in the media.  You may find yourself having to hide the pain of your childlessness as you support your own mum or see other others celebrate the joy of parenthood.  It can be a lonely and difficult time.

Look up and out

If you can relate to these feelings take some time to bring peace and calm into your day by connecting with and celebrating Mother Nature. Nurture and nourish yourself through nature and choose to look up and out by taking inspiration from the following:-

  • ·       Enjoy time outside to create stillness and regain your sense of self.  Go for a walk and discover the green shoots and plants that are unfurling after winter.

  • ·       If you have a garden plan how you want it to look over the coming months and purchase some seeds to plant and watch grow.

  • ·       Be inspired by nature programmes or create your own green spaces on Pinterest.

  • ·       Take time to breathe in some fresh Spring air by throwing open a window and refreshing your indoor space.

  • ·       Listen to some music that has been inspired by nature.

  • ·       Celebrate Mother Nature’s bountiful harvests by enjoying the tastes and textures of your favourite foods.  Make a delicious meal or bake a special cake.

By changing your focus and looking after yourself your mood will be lifted.  Let Mother Nature be your guide today and celebrate the nourishment she provides.  This will give much needed encouragement and will empower you as you move forwards and beyond the pain of childlessness.
